An all-new carbon Wilier Rave SLR all-road bike looks set to blur the lines between gravel and endurance road for the storied Italian bikemaker. Wilier Triestina has long maintained a clear distinction between their road racing bikes, endurance road & even gravel bikes, but the Rave (gravel minus the G & L) looks set to open things up a bit through adaptable bike builds. But the new Rave SLR looks set to break down some of those barriers, blending inspiration from their aero road Filante SLR and lightweight Wilier 0 SLR, then transforming back and forth from gravel to road depending on its cockpit and drivetrain choices.

While the Jena is a gravel all-rounder, the new Rave SLR is meant to be more of a gravel road race bike, with more sleek tube shaping & aero transitions from the fork to downtube, fully internal cable routing, and tighter clearances.

The new Rave SLR frame is relatively light at a claimed 950g for a gravel bike, plus another 415g for the fork. Not extremely lightweight, but paired with geometry that sits between endurance road & race gravel, Wilier sees this as a top-tier mixed-surface all-rounder.

The Rave SLR will be offered in six frame sizes (XS-XXL). It is built around a 71° head angle, ~74° seattube, and chainstays that vary from 421-427mm depending on size. The idea being to go fast on any terrain, but take advantage of comfort like thin dropped seatstays for all-day comfort on or off-road.

Tire clearance for the Rave SLR is equally middle of the road. Room for up to a 42mm gravel tire should satisfy gravel racers trying to go fast (the Jena offers more tire clearance for more adventure riding) while still keeping all-road-ready handling with 30mm slicks.

A primary feature separating the gravel & all-road builds, is the Italian-made Wilier integrated cockpit choice. The new Rave SLR in its gravel guise will feature the 900€ split-spar J-bar that was first launched with the Jena. At just 390g, the integrated aero monocoque carbon J-bar gravel bar was developed for extra control stiffness off-road, tucking mechanical or electronic shift controls completely inside.

Wilier suggests this 8300€ complete gravel build with Campagnolo Ekar, full carbon cockpit, and Campy Shamal Carbon wheels is actually the entry-level for the new Rave SLR, confirming high-end-only builds as standard for the versatile new bike.

Looking to the endurance all-road build options, Wilier gives the Rave SLR Road the same 1000€, 330g 0-bar cockpit from their Wilier 0 SLR road race bike, plus a just as versatile wide gearing setup thanks to wireless SRAM Force Wide.

The road build follows a similar premium price level, coming in at 9000€ with the more conventional one-piece Zero cockpit, a SRAM Force eTap AXS 2×12 Wide drivetrain, and Wilier SLR 42 KC carbon wheels with supple 30mm wide Vittoria tires.

While Wilier’s new Rave SLR does gravel fast & expensive, the Jena carbon gravel bike carries over at slightly more attainable pricing, and more adventure capabilities – room for 700x44mm or 650x48mm tires, plus rack, fender & extra bottle cage mounts.

Complete bike builds start around 3800€ with Shimano GRX 1×11 and alloy wheels. Or there are more premium options still like this 5100€ build with the latest SRAM Force eTap AXS XPLR 1x 12-speed build.

Plus, Wilier’s original carbon gravel bike gets a stealthy Jena Hybrid gravel e-bike sibling. From around 4700€ you can have a 250W ebikemotion motor in the rear hub and a 250Wh battery integrated into the downtube.

There’s also plenty of more premium builds too. This setup with Shimano GRX Di2 2×11, the integrated J-bar cockpit & carbon Wilier wheels sells for 8400€.

Just like the Rave SLR is bringing versatility to gravel race, the new Garda aims to offer a more affordable all-road option. At 3900€ complete with Rival eTap AXS 2×12, this new Wilier Garda features similar, semi-aero shaping blending inspiration from the Filante SLR & 0 SLR, with a lower cost carbon layup. You still get aerodynamic frame shaping, fully internal integrated cable routing, big endurance all-road tire clearances, and modern flat mount disc brakes… but at much more affordable pricing.

At the other, less-attainable extreme Wilier is also helping to celebrate Shimano’s 100th anniversary this year with a limited artist-edition run of Unico Filante SLR frames designed by Jun Inoue, “a contemporary artist whose work is deeply rooted in Japanese traditions.

The Unico transforms Shodo, Japanese calligraphy techniques into a uniquely contemporary design to adorn the limited edition framesets. Just 200 Unico Filante SLR bikes will be sold, with complete bike pricing starting at 8000€ with new Ultegra Di2 or 10,200€ with new Dura-Ace-Di2.
